Display and Processor

All the three smartphones score equally when it comes to the display as they are fitted with identical 4 inch IPS display panels that boast WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels resulting in average pixel density of 233 pixels per inch. All the three displays don’t differ much in terms of sharpness and color. On the raw hardware front, the Canvas Win W092 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. In comparison, the Lumia 525 comes equipped with a Snapdragon S4 Play dual-core chipset ticking at 1 MHz while the Lumia 520 is stuffed with a 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 SoC. In the multi-tasking department, again the Micromax offering strikes victory with the 1 GB of RAM that excels when clubbed with the quad-core processor as compared to the 1 GB RAM and dual-core processor combination in the Lumia 525. The Lumia 520 has  512 MB of RAM but you can’t compare these three with Android standard as Windows Phone 8.1 can sail quite easily on 512 MB RAM. You will however be able to download and efficiently manage more apps with 1 GB RAM.

Camera and Internal Storage

Again, in terms of camera Micromax Canvas Win is the weakest contender, even though it comes with LED flash support. The Canvas Win W092 features a fixed focus camera and not an Autofocus unit like the other two devices and in our brief time with the device, the performance was underwhelming. The Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 lack front-facing snappers, whereas the Micromax offering features a VGA front camera that will be appealing to those interested in Video calling. Talking of internal storage options, all the three smartphones are bundled with 8 GB of default storage space and for those users who feel this is too low, there is expandable storage option as well. While the Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 smartphones support additional storage up to 64 GB, the limit of expandable storage space in the Micromax offering is yet to be specified.

Battery and Features

On the power management segment, the Nokia Lumia 525 and Lumia 520 smartphones include 1,430 mAh battery, whereas the Micromax Canvas Win W092 is powered by a 1,500 mah battery. We are not yet sure which one will lead in terms of battery backup, but since Canvas Win W092 has a chipset based on 45nm Process technology instead of more power efficient 28nm Process, we are inclined towards Lumia devices fairing slightly better. In terms of software, the Nokia Lumia smartphones are still running on Windows Phone 8 operating system, but the Micromax Canvas Win W092 is slightly advanced with the Windows Phone 8.1 platform. The Windows Phone 8.1 is indeed a big advantage for now, but Lumia 520 and 525 will soon get it via Lumia Cyan update. Also, Micromax W092 is a dual SIM offering that is impressive making it suitable for those who prefer to use dual SIM functionality.
